Autumn 2011...

16 February 2014

Back then, in the hot pool of North Park, I decided to come here after university. This week I often went back to that time and place — in my memories and also physically with the motorbike. Last Sunday after dark and today in daylight, to see the path from and to work, on which I cycled about 1000 km (though some of them were on the bayshore route; at the start of the rainy season I gave it up in favour of a more urban one where I wouldn't get covered in mud). As far as I remember back then I was drooling at some BMWs on the website, not suspecting that before long I'll be on the same path with my own one.

Before long, that is, in the active lifetime of a pair of running shoes, plus two weeks. I bought them after the internship in 2011, and yesterday I passed 1000 km with them and retired them. In the meantime I've ran about 1600 km with other two pairs; the shoes in question somehow didn't fit me very well initially, so I was doing the shorter runs with them. After some time I decided they've worn in a way that fits my feet, so I assigned them to the longer runs, but approximately at that time I got less serious and started skipping quite some trainings, especially the longer ones. So the time of duty of this pair ended up quite long, but on Saturday it was over and I immediately went to buy a new pair. On Tuesday is their debut!

Reading my blog posts from 2011, I see what has been bothering me back then. It's mentioned vaguely, so other readers wouldn't get it, but I remember. Some of these worries have vanished on their own, others have turned from pointless anger to motivation.

So... it seems a lot that started back then is big and ripe now... and pretty much everything went the way I expected and hoped it would, so it seems these two-and-something years flew by damn quickly...
