Boxing the World!
Boxing the World!
Two weeks ago my uncle told me that he‘d been a boxer for a while, when he was young. He even became a national champion, and then stopped practicing. He had a goal, and when he achieved it, he moved on to something else – he wanted to understand what motivates the boxers to fight so fiercely. ‘So, what is it?’ – I asked. ‘It‘s simple!’ – he explained – ‘When you get a punch in the head, this enrages you and makes you want to strike back.’
I thought, this – metaphorically – is a nice description of my life – if not the way it is, then the way I want it to be. Life hits me, I faint for a moment, maybe even fall down... but then, angered by the strike, I stand up and viciously strike back... and so on... and so on...
When I‘m feeling down, or when something is coming that will probably make me feel down, I remember this comparison and try to use the negative circumstances in a positive way, as motivation. Now, let‘s see who will win the fight...
